USCA Senior Nationals Resounding Success

Well, the Mens invitational and Mens Senior National Championships are now officially over and hopefully curling can return to normal at the Rice Lake Curling Club. The invitational was a resounding success again as the Henkel and Ritzinger team did a tremendous job of hosting that event and it sounds like they did really good financially as well. All the competitors loved the hospitality, the ice and the competition was at the highest level I believe that we have ever had here at that spiel. The nationals are over as well and the Paul Pustovar team came out on top to take the trip to New Zealand. The competition was outstanding and again Rice Lake came out with bells on to put on a tremendous national championship. I talked to everyone who competed during the week and they were all totally impressed with our club, our ice and our hospitality. The teams in the finals came off the ice and said that there was no doubt that our ice was the best that they have ever experienced in our senior championships. The head official, who has officiated all over the country and abroad, could not believe what we put on here in Rice Lake. He commented that when something needed to be done there was always someone there to do it. All the officials were there on time and did a great job. Mike and Lola put on a great menu with difficult schedules and the players really appreciated having the option of eating something right at the club or going out to eat. The players loved the town and the many restaurants that they were able to go to. I think Maxines and the Country Inn ended up making their week with the curlers eating at their establishments. I canít thank all the workers who were so involved with this event enough. As always the Rice Lake Curling Club members came out and showed the rest of the curling world that we are special here in Rice Lake and that we take great pride in putting on a great show. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You ! Larry Sharp *FYI....I have posted a new gallery with a few photos of the weeks activities. Enjoy ! Greg
